Summer Extras

Wyatt is pulling himself up on everything now and trying really hard to walk! Exciting and scary!

We went on Wyatt's first hike at Elk Meadow (a Huff favorite)! He loved it!

I love this picture! Cutest little profile ever! Wyatt is taking full-on big boy baths now and loving it - even when he goes under!!

We went to Keystone for the Bluegrass and Beer festival with our good friends, the Johnsons in August. The babies did great! Here are Bren and Wyatt with Matt and Wyatt's girlfriend, Ella!
Wyatt and I went for a bike ride with Grandpa and Grandma Huff. Needless to say, it was not his favorite experience, but maybe with time he will enjoy it more! He did look awfully cute in his dinosaur helmet though!
Hanging out in his basketball chair - a fun gift from his Hornecker and Bryson aunts and uncles!
Worn out after a weekend of fun! He can fall asleep anywhere!
Wyatt and Russell hanging out on the boat.
We went boating and camping with Katie and Russell in July. Wyatt wasn't a fan of the life jacket at all, but he warmed up to boating after a little while!

Even though the calendar still says summer, it definitely doesn't feel that way in the Huff house anymore! I have been back to work for 4 weeks now, and Wyatt has since started daycare. Although he really seems to be enjoying his weekly adventures with friends, Boden and Ella at Bearly Tawl - Bren and I can hardly stand it!! Wyatt is so active as he approaches his first birthday (just a couple weeks away)! He loves to open and close all of our cabinets, pull out all of his toys, sing and dance, and of course . . . eat!! I know - it's shocking that my son loves to eat!! Here are a few pictures from the rest of our summer adventures - better late than never!

Isn't He Resourceful?!

The thumb mudgie
The bear finger puppet mudgie
The mega block mudgie
The screw mudgie (a plush screw from his tool set)

We've been trying to minimize Wyatt's pacifier time . . . which we affectionately call "the mudgie". Wyatt loves his mudgie! This makes minimizing the mudgie very difficult. You'll see in this series of pictures that Wyatt will put just about anything in his mouth - this is not a new trick, as he's done this for months - but now he sucks on whatever he puts in his mouth, as though it were a mudgie! Too cute . . . and too smart!

WOW

So . . . here I sit, feeling pretty sentimental. My husband and son are both napping - and I'm feeling so darn blessed, and a little sappy. Bren and I have been married for 6 years today. . . 6 years!! It has been incredible. Brendan is one of the most genuine, loyal, hardworking, godly men that I know. He loves me with his whole heart and it has been so wonderful to watch him love our son. As Bren and I had dinner together last night (thank you mom and dad for watching Wyatt!), we looked back over this last year . . . and all we could come up with was WOW! The love and respect we have experienced for each other has increased in an unimaginable way since having Wyatt, along with our love for God. It is really something to watch our heavenly father work in our family - the love, the patience, the grace. I have begun to understand all of these things on a completely different level. I am overwhelmed by God's goodness, by the blessings He has bestowed upon us and I am grateful for my husband, who continues to strengthen our family and insists that God remains the center of our marriage and family. Happy Anniversary Bren!
