Summer's Here!

We are only a week into summer vacation and have had a ton of fun already! Since our last posting we've had tons of family fun and adventure! Bren has completed his first month as a business owner and it has been both successful and enjoyable. Wyatt and I love having Bren home more often and he loves being out on his own. So far this transition has been a huge blessing and we cannot thank our friends and family enough for the support . . . and also the business! :)
These finger paint pictures are from yesterday. I ran upstairs to find a paint brush for Wyatt when the fingers weren't quite cutting it and came back to find this! A little creepy looking, considering he used the red paint, but pretty funny too!
We went up to the Teva Games in Vail last weekend thanks to a tip from some great friends. Wyatt had a blast and so did we . . . and all for free!! On the walk back to the car Wyatt fell asleep and didn't even wake up while we changed his diaper on the tailgate.

Wyatt loves bikes and motorcycles right now. We check out a couple big kid books every week about motorcycles and they are all he talks about. Grandpa Mark, Grandma Lynn, and Uncle Quinn all have motorcycles that he sits on regularly and even gets to honk their horns. As the mom I really hate, yes I said hate, this love and obsession - but I'm realizing this is a battle I cannot win. So . . . I am tirelessly trying to teach motorcycle and bike safety! Yes, everyone wearing a helmet is safe and smart and I say this phrase at least 20 times a day (no exaggeration).
Wyatt got to ride a strider bike at the Teva Games and he LOVED it! Especially once they strapped the helmet on! Yay!

Bren's sister Tiffany was in town for a few days over Memorial Day. We haven't seen her since Wyatt was 3 months old so it was a treat for all of us! Wyatt loves his aunt "Niffny" and loved getting to snuggle her and play ring around the Niffny!
Exploring at Mema's and Grampa Terry's house.

Yes, Wyatt still loves shoes. He wears our shoes daily and insists that we have shoes on at all times. He is a little confused about the whole flip flop thing, but is getting used to seeing them on feet. This is by far one of my favorite quirky things about him!

Evergreen Easter

We had a great Holy Week and Easter celebrating the resurrection of our Christ!
Wyatt and Kota after Easter basket opening!
All the kids at Easter. Caris and Atley are at the end on the left (Kent and Kelyn's girls), Courtney (Brian and Andi's daughter), Wyatt, Ella (Matt and Kate's daughter and Wyatt's GF), and Boden (Ty and Steph's son).
We had our first bear of the season in our pond on Easter! Brendan got some great video.
Bucket heads!!

Despite the cold, snowy weather on Saturday, our church put on a great Easter egg hunt for the kids of the community. Wyatt didn't even seem to realize that it was cold and wet - all he wanted to do was hunt eggs (and go down the snowy slide)!

Our pastor's wife painted all of these beautiful cardboard cut out scenes for the kids to take pictures with.

As nice as the Easter bunny was, you can tell Wyatt still wasn't too sure about him!

Here's Wyatt howling like a wolf - one of his new favorite animal noises, that and "doodle do" for a rooster!

Top Ten

Here's a Top Ten list of things that happened in the Huff Household in February and March (in no particular order)!

10. Thanks to some warm days, we've gotten to spend a lot of time outside and Wyatt loves it! The park, the zoo, the yard - he loves it all, as long as he doesn't have to come inside!

9. Wyatt turned 18 months old on March 12 and we had a great well-baby check up! We have been concerned that Wyatt may have to have genetic testing done, as the doctor was concerned about his height. At this appointment, we learned that Wyatt is in the 13% for weight now - a big jump and in the 2% for height. 2% doesn't make it sound very likely that he will be the leading rebounder for his high school basket ball team - but it is a big improvement from not even being on the charts at 12 months! So . . . no genetic testing! The doctor thinks his rate of growth is steady, maybe slow, but at least steady.
8. I turned 30 on March 27. Bren surprised me with a zoo pass and DVR! The tragic part of this surprise is that DVR is yet to be hooked up due to set-up complications - I guess another month of waiting to watch The Office and Modern Family won't be too bad, considering I haven't seen an episode in 19 months! I also had a great day at the spa with my mom and Quinn's girlfriend, Sheena plus a night out with friends and a brunch with family. It was a great way to turn 30!

7. Wyatt has a great sense of humor! He is so silly! In the picture above, he is wearing the shell to a turtle shape sorter as his "helmet". He wears this all the time when he's riding his truck or motorcycle!
6. Wyatt is so helpful! He loves to help unload the dishes and throw laundry into the dryer. He also loves to sweep, and still wants to see the vacuum 30 times a day even though he is terrified of it! I'm hoping to get a few more years out of this "for free" chore time!!

5. Wyatt has been so polite - he has learned to say "help please", "up please", "thank you" and "down please" - it is pretty cute, especially now that it is no longer parent prompted!

4. I thought I'd start with how polite he is to remind myself before writing about the tantrum phase or as we call it, TTs! Wyatt loves the word "NO" - where did this come from? Just all of a sudden he would say "no" to everything! He also loves to roll on the ground, kick his feet and pretend cry. It's lovely. Especially considering his mom works in behavior support!

3. Brendan turned 30 on February 28! We had a great celebration for Brendan and Matt with some friends the week before and got to celebrate Bren's 30th and Grandpa Merrill's 92nd with the Adams family! We took a family trip out to Cabelas the week after, just to keep the celebration going! Bren got himself some new hunting boots, after months of saving gift cards!
2. Wyatt has gotten 5 new teeth in the last few weeks - READ, he does not sleep well at night right now and his hands are always in his mouth. On the plus side, his smile is awfully cute!
1. Wyatt loves tools! He goes around fixing things all the time, and loves to be just like his daddy! Probably our biggest news from February and March includes tools - Bren put in his notice at work and has just about completed all of the steps to get his own business up and running. This has been a dream of ours for a long time and it is exciting and scary, and EXCITING to know that we are finally there! Bren's company is called Covenant Construction and Remodel and he will be starting up at the end of this month! I am so proud of him! It is exciting to be trusting God's timing and process for all of this!

Now a Wobbler!

Wyatt has kissed the baby stage goodbye and officially become a "wobbler" - at least that is what they call him now at Bearly Tawl! Yep! Wyatt has moved out of the baby class. He is now sleeping on a cot (thank goodness it is only an inch off the ground), and introducing himself to all of the big kids at day care. He has been a ton of fun lately - letting his personality shine! He LOVES playing with tools. He spends all day fixing things around the house with his drills and wants to spend a lot of his time in the garage with Daddy. He is still intrigued with the vacuum, asking at least 20 times a day to go look at it in the closet and now he has taken an interest in the broom. Is this a good sign for the chores to come??!! He is also talking up a storm - daddy and mama are still his favorite words, but drill and tool are becoming favorites too. He says more milk "moma", "tota" - or Kota, "dire duck" - fire truck, "vaum" - vacuum, "Bamba" - grandpa, "Bamma" - Grandma, and of course "gee" for his mudgie. There are a ton of other words and sounds he is saying, but these are some of his newest! He also loves his friends Bo-Bo (Boden), Ella, Tarter (Carter), At-ley, and Caris (which he doesn't say very well at all)! It is really fun to watch him interact with the other kids - we have such special relationships with all of the parents and it is such a blessing to see the kids love each other too!

Although we have officially hit the "we shouldn't go out to eat" stage with Wyatt, we took the chance and met Uncle Russell and Aunt Katie at Casa Bonita for a classic Colorado experience! Wyatt loved it! The diver, the fire juggling . . . and most of the kiddie rides! This may be on a rotating basis of restaurants we frequent if we want to have a conversation - Casa Bonita, Chuck E Cheese, and Taco Bell! Being the food snob that I am, this could be difficult - except for Taco Bell of course!! Yum!

Cold Day Cutie!

We were so excited when Douglas County Schools decided to close school for two days this week due to cold weather, giving Wyatt and me a couple of days together smack dab in the middle of the week! We had so much fun, especially during the first day! By day two however; it was a little tricky to come up with new and exciting things to do solely indoors! Although I'm certain Wyatt might have the longest attention span for a 16 month old - it is still very short! And since he isn't really capable of making crafts, or cooking, and has very little interest in movies and television, we ran out of things to do by about 2:00 this afternoon! Not too bad really! Wyatt loves music, so we did a lot of singing and dancing and thanks to Hillsong Kids and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse we were able to avoid a full-fledged meltdown this afternoon. Wyatt loves to do everything Mommy and Daddy do right now, and it shows in a couple of our pictures. This morning, he rounded the corner in Bren's hat and one of my high heels. Although his dad is a little mortified that I'm posting this picture, I think it's great (and a little scary) that he wants to do just as we are doing! Hope you all had a safe and warm couple of days!
A couple of pictures at the park last weekend before the big freeze! Wyatt loves to slide!
